One mandible and maxilla set shall have a normal complement of teeth. The second set shall have cut away sections showing the following:
-tooth roots
-nerves
-blood supply
-impacted third molar
-abscessed root tip
-root tip in atrium
-palatine and lingula tore
-impacted supernumery tooth in palate
-extractions with and without alveolectomy
The model shall be made of polyester plastic simulating a natural human skull. The basic liquid resin, from which the model is made~ shall be colored with suitable oil pigments and filled by adding 50% by weight powdered calcium carbonate to give an opaque bone color with radiographic qualities.
The teeth shall be chip resistant and permanently anchored. The exposed tooth roots, nerves, blood supply and abscessed root tip shall painted with arhst’s laquer (white, blue, red, and yellow respectively). Turbinates shall be strengthened to enable handling in the obits without the possibility of their shelling out.
The model shall be capable of being marked with pencil, pen, and crayon. These types of markings shall be easily removed a using a mild detergent and water.
Workmanship. The model shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One model, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
